Ankle & Foot Diabetes Golf Benefit Set for Aug. 19 at Pine Lakes

Dr. Michelle Anania (left), Diabetes Partnership of the Mahoning Valley President Edward Hassay (center) and Practice Administrator Michael Vallas are organizing the practice's 18th annual Diabetes Golf Outing, set for Aug. 19 at Pine Lakes Golf Club.

HUBBARD, Ohio - Ankle & Foot Care Centers today announced plans for its 18th annual Diabetes Golf Benefit, a four-person scramble set for Friday, August 19, at the Pine Lakes Golf Club at 6233 W. Liberty St. in Hubbard.

The tournament raises money for local diabetes education, resources and support, through Ankle & Foot Care Centers and the Diabetes Partnership of the Mahoning Valley.

"We're looking forward to raising more funds for the ongoing battle against diabetes," said Dr. Michelle Anania, partner at Ankle & Foot Care Centers and the event's lead organizer.

The event has been sponsored by Ankle & Foot Care Centers since 1999 and has raised more than $140,000 for services and education for diabetes patients.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., following sign-in at 9:30 a.m. The $100 fee per golfer includes 18 holes of golf, lunch and dinner, beverages on the course, merchandise prizes and skill contests. Lunch will be served on the course with dinner at the pavilion immediately following the event.

Registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 5. There are also opportunities to support this event through hole and corporate sponsorships. Those interested should call Michael Vallas at 330.629.8800 for more details.

Ankle & Foot Care Centers works with the Diabetes Partnership and the American Diabetes Association on initiatives to stop the spread of diabetes, which afflicts more than 29 million Americans and often manifests itself on the feet. The practice also delivers free seminars and organizes support groups for diabetes patients and their families.
