Most are Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Ankle & Foot Care Centers also offer early morning, evening and Saturday appointments; 24-hour emergency care at all area hospitals; house calls for the home-bound; and nursing home care. Dr. Lawrence DiDimenico, Managing Partner of Ankle & Foot Care Centers, says the Centers have succeeded in this area because of the comprehensive care they provide in many disciplines that meets the highest medical standards. “We’ve proven that it’s not necessary to travel to Cleveland or Pittsburgh to receive the best possible podiatric care.” As testimony to their status at the forefront of podiatric medicine, Ankle & Foot Care Centers were tapped by Storz, a Swiss firm, to conduct clinical trials on a new medical device designed to treat heel pain. The Centers are among only six facilities nationwide who are participating in these trials. Patients drawn from the Centers’ 19 locations have volunteered to participate in a study that will test the effectiveness of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), a newer treatment modality for plantar fasciitis. This condition, which afflicts connective tissue at the bottom of the foot, leads to chronic heel pain and heel spur syndrome. Dr. DiDimenico said he was honored that his facility was chosen to participate in the trials. “Storz liked our wide coverage area and was impressed with the way we operate our centers,” he said. “The data we gather will be an important contribution to podiatric medicine. If the trials nationwide are successful, I believe they will help establish in-office ESWT as a standard non-surgical treatment for plantar fasciitis.” As further testimony to the reputation Ankle & Foot Care Centers enjoys in the worldwide podiatric community, Dr. DiDomenico was among physicians from across the globe who recently participated in the 14th International Symposium on Foot Surgery. The event, sponsored by the German Orthopedic/Trauma Society, was held in Munich, Germany on December 1st and 2nd. Dr. DiDomenico was asked to lecture on surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle. He also was part of panel of experts that fielded questions at the symposium. # # # For more information, contact: [ Back to News ] |
